Web Development
Marketing sites and content platforms that load fast, rank well and stay editable by your own team.
- Core Web Vitals budgets enforced in CI
- WCAG 2.2 AA as a contract term
- Editor training and written handover
We design and build websites, platforms and brand systems for mid-sized companies. Nine senior specialists, no account managers, and a written scope before anyone writes code.
Currently taking on two projects for Q2 2026.

Trusted by operators in energy, health, logistics and manufacturing
Most engagements combine two or three of these. You get one team and one lead rather than a handover between departments.
Marketing sites and content platforms that load fast, rank well and stay editable by your own team.
Customer portals, internal tools and integrations built on boring, well-supported technology.
Interface design and design systems for dense, regulated products with demanding users.
Evidence-led planning that ends with a prioritised roadmap and a defensible business case.
Identity systems built for B2B credibility and delivered as working, documented assets.
Technical due diligence, architecture review and fractional leadership, by the day.
Every project below includes what changed, measured before and after launch.

Replacing a decade-old customer area with a self-service portal for 240,000 household accounts.
34% fewer inbound calls in the first quarter

A planning platform for four depots, replacing a spreadsheet process that only two people fully understood.
Shift planning down from 90 to 25 minutes

Rebuilding an appointment booking flow used by 90 clinics, with accessibility as a procurement requirement.
Booking completion up from 52% to 84%
Northstar Digital has been independent since 2014. We deliberately stay small so the people you meet in the first call are the ones writing the code.

Four phases, each ending with something you can review. Nothing is invoiced against a milestone you cannot see.
Two weeks of interviews, analytics review and a technical audit. You leave with a written problem statement and a prioritised scope.
1–2 weeksWireframes, then a component-level design system. We prototype the three journeys that carry the business case before anything is built.
2–4 weeksTwo-week increments on a staging URL you can use from day one. Accessibility and performance budgets are checked in CI, not at the end.
6–14 weeksMigration, monitoring and a four-week hardening window. Then a quarterly review of what the data says to change next.
OngoingThey rebuilt the customer portal in four months and it has not needed a rescue since. The handover documentation was better than our internal standard, which was mildly embarrassing for us.
What stood out was how early we saw something real. There was a working staging environment in week three, and every decision after that was argued with data instead of slides.
Our booking flow went from a liability to the thing sales demos first. Accessibility was treated as a requirement rather than an add-on, which mattered a great deal for our public sector clients.
Ranges are indicative and exist to disqualify poor fits early. After a discovery sprint you get a fixed price.
